Futsal AFCON 2026: Morocco thrash Algeria 4-0, schedule and results in Rabat

Morocco's futsal team made a perfect start to their home Africa Cup of Nations: 4-0 against Algeria on Monday 12 October at the Prince Moulay Abdellah hall in Rabat, in the opening game of Group A.

The game: a Youssef Jawad hat-trick

Youssef Jawad (also spelt Jaouad) scored a hat-trick. Moroccan media disagree on who scored the other goal, so we do not name him. In the other group game, Zambia beat Libya 3-1: Morocco and Zambia lead on 3 points.

Morocco, the holders

Moroccan futsal rules Africa: the women's team also won the first Women's Futsal AFCON in April 2025 in Rabat (3-2 against Tanzania in the final, pictured). On the men's side, Morocco won the last three editions: 2016 in South Africa, then 2020 and 2024 at home, drawing level with Egypt, also three-time champions, who are in the other group.
