Asian handicap explained simply: 0, -0.25, -0.5, -1, -1.5 (with examples)
How Asian handicap works: refunds, half wins, half losses and quarter lines, with worked examples and how it works live.
The Asian handicap removes (or adds) goals to a team before the match. It removes the draw, and some lines can be refunded or won by half. Add the handicap to your team's score and see who "wins".
The main lines
- 0 (draw no bet): win = won, draw = refunded, loss = lost.
- -0.5: your team must win. +0.5: your team must not lose.
- -1: win by 2+ = won, win by 1 = refunded, draw or loss = lost.
- -1.5: win by at least 2 goals, no refund.
Quarter lines
Your stake is split across the two neighbouring lines. -0.25: win = won, draw = half lost. -0.75: win by 2+ = won, win by 1 = half won. +0.25: draw = half won.
Example: 2,000 F on A -0.75 at 2.00; A wins 1-0: 1,000 F on -0.5 wins (2,000 F back), 1,000 F on -1 is refunded. Total 3,000 F returned.
Live Asian handicap
Live, the handicap usually applies to the rest of the match: goals already scored do not count. Check your operator's rule on the slip.
FAQ
