Matchday 2 of the AFCON qualifiers was played on 28 and 29 September 2026. Here are all the results, with a link to each match centre (line-ups, stats, key moments).

The big shocks

• Ghana 2-4 Gambia: the Black Stars beaten at home in Accra. Gambia have 6 points, level with Ivory Coast.
• Guinea-Bissau 3-0 Nigeria: the Super Eagles humbled in Bissau (our analysis).
• Burundi 2-2 Algeria: Algeria held in Bujumbura.

The favourites deliver

• Somalia 0-2 Ivory Coast: played in Abidjan. The Elephants left it late: Yann Gboho (89') then Bazoumana Touré (90+5'). 23 shots to 1, 78% possession.
• Lesotho 0-2 Morocco: in Bloemfontein, Brahim Díaz (45') and Azzedine Ounahi (82'). Morocco have 6 points out of 6.
• Ethiopia 0-1 Senegal: Ibrahim Mbaye scored the only goal in the 11th minute in Bahir Dar.
• South Sudan 0-5 Egypt: Omar Marmoush scored twice (49', 83'), plus Mostafa Zico (36'), Ibrahim Adel (75') and Hamza Abdelkarim (90+2').
• Zimbabwe 1-2 DR Congo: the Leopards won in Harare on 28 September.

• Congo 1-1 Cameroon in Brazzaville (report and standings).
• Gabon 2-0 Niger in Franceville.
• Central African Republic 0-1 Burkina Faso, played in Casablanca.
• Equatorial Guinea 1-0 Sierra Leone, played in Yaoundé.
